As for a name? I can't think of one, but the 8 reminds me of an infinity symbol if that might help?
Also if you don't mind me asking, how did you do his hair? One strand at a time? O.o
And about the hair... First I made one color base, than shaded it a little and at the end (just like you said) I added each strand separately.
And alright, I think I'll give it a shot actually, the style I draw hair now looks took much like fire to me :\
